5.10 Alerts

The alerts in INTERGATOR Patent Search regularly inform researchers about new publications that match a saved search. They are based on the monitoring search function and extend it with an automatic e-mail notification.

Functionality

  • Alerts are based on saved searches (with or without a time filter).
  • When executed, the service automatically extends the search with the current monitoring period (week or month).
  • Recipients receive an e-mail with a direct link to the search interface.
  • The saved search remains unchanged; ad-hoc filters do not affect future alerts.
  • If a saved search is deleted, the corresponding alert is also removed.
  • E-mails are only sent to licensed users existing in the system, using their profile e-mail address (no external or free addresses).

Example alert e-mail

Creating an Alert

1. Run a search and save it as a favorite (see guide). 2. Open the saved search via the sidebar (open saved searches). 3. In the action menu of the saved search, select “Create alert”. 4. Fill in the dialog:

  • Name (pre-filled, editable)
  • E-mail address (pre-filled with the logged-in user; only additional licensed users can be added)
  • Interval: *Weekly* or *Monthly*

Open alert dialog Specify name, e-mail, interval

Editing Existing Alerts

1. Open the overview via User menu → Alerts. User menu → Alerts

2. In the alert overview, the following functions are available:

  • Active (checkbox): Enable/disable an alert without deleting it.
  • Test (magnifier): Execute the alert immediately and open the result.
  • Edit (pencil): Adjust name, recipients, interval.
  • Delete (trash can): Permanently remove the alert.

Overview and actions: activate/test/edit/delete

Alert Management

All created alerts can be viewed and managed centrally via User menu → Alerts. Changes to name, e-mail recipients (licensed users only), and interval can be made at any time.

Notes

  • For broad queries, alerts may return a very large number of results. It is recommended to refine the results interactively with filters.
  • Temporary filtering in the result list does not affect the underlying saved search (basis for the next alert run).
  • Depending on the selected interval, recipients automatically receive an e-mail with new results.
